ghost-tour_2016What better place to go exploring for ghosts than in the City of Anoka, Halloween Capital of the World?
Stories abound in Anoka of odd happenings and eerie encounters. There is a house where the rocking chair rocks with no one sitting in it. A business in town has employees who won’t enter parts of the building because of the woman seen only in a mirror. There are doors that lock themselves, displays that change on their own, cold drafts…..might they all speak of things unexplained?

Their costumed tour guides will take you on a walk through historic neighborhoods of Anoka. You’ll view (from the outside) homes and businesses that have been privy to some unexplained events, while your guide shares real stories that have been brought to the Anoka County Historical Society by the people who live and work in these buildings. Sixty percent history, forty percent folklore; these stories are just part of the fun you will experience on your Ghosts of Anoka tour.

New for 2016!
To celebrate the auspicious 13th anniversary of the walking tour, the ACHS and Ghost Tour Guides are introducing new stories in 2016.

All tours originate from the Anoka County History Center and Library. The tour route is 15 blocks (approximately 1 mile) around Anoka city streets and lasts about 1.5 hours. Tours run rain or shine, so be sure to dress for the weather and wear comfortable walking shoes.

Tours are scheduled twice a month on Thursdays and Saturdays from May through August.  In September and October, we have added tours each Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening.  There will also be tours the Monday-Thursday during the week of Halloween. Visit for exact dates and to make reservations.

The first tour of the evening begins at 7:30 pm.  If they add additional tours, they are staggered every 15 minutes to provide space between the groups (7:15, 7:00, etc.) Please double-check the time of the tour before you complete your reservation online.

Advance reservations are required. They cannot accommodate walk-ups.  Only 24 participants per tour.

Adults: $9.00
Children (6–17): $7.00
ACHS Members: $7.00
